Jeffrey shared with me why letters matter to him. Like many of your own stories, his story is touching. His letter grants me permission to share a portion of it with you, my readers. I feel you will appreciate it as I did. Because his handwriting is beautifully legible I post only the scans of the actual letter. The "J" seal, a gift from Grandmother. If you would like your story shared for the inspiration of others please send me a letter granting permission to scan and post your story or message. I would love to share what others have to say. I learn much and gain inspiration from those of you who are kind enough to write me and I would like to be able to pay it forward. But remember, without permission I will not share private conversation. I hope to receive more such stories for the benefit of others. Thank you, Jeffrey, for telling your story.

Oh my, that's bittersweet! My maternal grandmother sent me stationery, stamps and such, also, and I believe she's one reason I love letters and writing as I do.

Wonderful! This reminds me that I ought to be saving all of my cards and letters as well. Thanks for sharing this!

Great story! Unfortunately I did not write to my grandparents that much. We lived close so we saw each other all the time. However when I moved out on my own my grandmother sent me two recipe's written in cursive on index cards and in pencil. They are still in our recipe box to this day 19 years later.

Yes, letters do matter. Why they matter more than emails and comments is that it is permanent. It can be stored somewhere and be read with nostalgia. Jeffrey’s story was touching. We always have to lose something to know how important it was.
